Gucci Mane Wanted For Aggravated Assault On Fan In Atlanta

Gucci Mane, an Atlanta-based rapper who currently stars opposite James Franco in Spring Breakers, is being sought by Georgia authorities in connection with an assault at a nightclub earlier this month. Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, is accused of hitting Fort Hood, Texas native James Lettley in the head with a champagne bottle. Lettley was left with a severe gash that required 10 stitches.

Lettley says he was in Atlanta on Saturday, March 16 to celebrate his birthday. He heard that Davis was promoting a new mixtape at Harlem Nights Ultra Lounge, so he went to the downtown nightclub in hopes of getting a picture with the rapper. As Lettley talked to a security guard in the the club’s VIP section, Davis allegedly attacked him with the champagne bottle.

“I wanted to get a picture with Gucci Mane. I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle,” says Lettley, an Army officer who completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan last October. "And as I looked at him in the shock of why, one of his friends hit me in the side of my face.”

Lettley was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital. He says he fears for the safety of other Gucci Mane fans. "That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain't no telling what else he might do to them," he adds.

Atlanta authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Davis for aggravated assault. A rep for Davis has not commented. "We do have an active warrant for Mr. Davis for aggravated assault," Lt. Jeff Cantin says. "So I'm sure after he sees this, I'm sure he'll want to reach out and contact us."

Davis has been arrested multiple times for assault and has done several stints in jail. He was charged with murder in 2005 for the shooting death of a man in Decatur, Georgia. The charge was dropped due to insufficient evidence.
