Baltimore, Maryland February 13, 2007 – $500. LIVING ROOM REDESIGN FEATURED ON NBC AFFILIATE, WBAL-TV 11 IN MARYLAND. INTERIOR REDESIGNER, PAULA HENRY OF SIMPLY PUT INTERIORS TRANSFORMS MARYLAND LIVING ROOM WITH $500. BUDGET. Paula Henry of Simply Put Interiors appeared live on NBC affiliate, WBAL-TV 11 Saturday Morning for the big reveal.
When contacted by the homeowner to Redesign their Living Room on a tight shopping budget, Simply Put Interiors was ready. The budget was not the only challenge to this Redesign. Paula Henry, owner of Simply Put Interiors, a Maryland based Interior Redesign and Professional Home Staging firm said, “The space was small with unusual bump-outs, the sofa was quite large, there was no focal point to speak of, and the owners did not want to paint.”
Before Redesigning a space Henry prefers to meet with the homeowner for an initial Consultation to understand their decorating goals and lifestyle. She is able to assess the space and determine what existing furnishings and accessories can be used. Henry often “shops” the rest of the house for things that can be incorporated into the Redesign. “We often rediscover forgotten treasures, and give them new life in our Redesigns,” said Henry. A shopping list and budget are also determined for any necessary outside purchases, which most homeowners elect to have made by Simply Put Interiors. “The most important item on our list for this Redesign was window treatments to replace temporary mini-blinds and introduce color to the space since we could not paint. If we could save here, there would be more money to spend on other items such as lamps and accessories.” Simply Put Interiors was able to find some great deals and purchase everything on their shopping list.
On the day of the Redesign, the Simply Put Interiors team arrives with their purchases and starts by emptying the room. A specialized system is used when bringing furnishings back in. Henry explains, “We start by establishing a focal point and addressing it with our largest piece of furniture. In this case, the room lacked a focal point such as beautiful view or fireplace, but our Consultation with the homeowner revealed the importance of the TV. We concluded it should be our focal point and the largest piece of furniture was the sofa. Now we have our starting point.” Once the sofa is placed, additional seating is brought in followed by tables, lamps and accessories. Henry generally works clockwise around the space for the placement of art on walls. “Before she knew it, her Living Room was transformed in less than a day,” Henry boasts.
“I don’t think our homeowner imagined her Living Room could look so good. It was especially rewarding when she hugged me out of gratitude and told me I had changed her life.” Henry further states, “Sharing the concept of Redesign on WBAL-TV 11 Saturday Morning was a great opportunity to get the word out and show viewers what is possible without breaking the bank. Our big reveal was very well received and I look forward to changing more lives through my work.”
Interior Redesign is a fairly new concept that is worth taking note of. Simply stated, it is the art of redecorating using most of what you already own. “So many rooms can be saved with some professional help,” Henry states, “You don’t always have to start from scratch to get a new look.”
