Low End Pioneer Les Claypool Brings his Duo de Twang to Athens for a 4/20 Celebration at the Famed Georgia Theatre

Les Claypool is one of the most original, progressive, and downright bizarre bassists to emerge from the American music landscape. Known primarily for his work with the alternative, genre-bending, freak rock outfit Primus, Claypool has built a reputation as a touring force, keeping busy with project after project for the more than 25 years.

His idiosyncratic playing style and persona has found him sharing the stage and studio time with players as diverse as Stuart Copeland, Trey Anastasio, Buckethead, Bernie Worrell, Gov’t Mule, Hank Williams III, Bob Weir, Gabby La La ,and Tom Waits. He has influenced an entire generation of bass players and is widely regarded as one of the most significant bass players in rock history. In addition, he is now a published author, a film maker, and owns and operates a boutique winery in Northern California.

His newest project, Duo de Twang, finds him paired with his longtime friend and guitarist Marc “Mirv” Haggard. Their re-imagining of many tunes from Claypool’s extensive repertoire should make for a very loose and extremely entertaining 4/20 evening in the Classic City. Don’t miss it!
