Suicide Bomber Targets Mosque in Northern Iraq, at least 15 Dead

A suicide bomber entered a mosque used by Sunni Muslim Arabs in northern Iraq, shot the imam and several worshippers, and then detonated a belt equipped with explosives, killing at least 15 people and injuring nearly 100 more.

The attack in Talafar, near the border with Syria, occurred while a large congregation of worshippers had gathered for prayers.

According to witnesses inside the mosque the man shot the imam as he began to deliver his sermon and then opened fire on other worshippers before detonating the explosives.
