UCLA will host the world's leading learning and life skills summer enrichment program in 2010, it was announced today. SuperCamp, which has graduated over 53,000 students since its inception in 1982, will be held at UCLA for the first time in the program's history.
SuperCamp will hold its high school academic summer camp for students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2010 at UCLA from July 9 to 18.
These teen summer camps provide students with the learning and life skills needed to improve grades, confidence, motivation, and social skills. In addition, the teen program introduces the 8 Keys of Excellence, eight character-development principles, to the students over the course of the 10-day camp. These principles have been taught to students in schools across the U.S. for over 20 years.
UCLA is renowned for its beautiful campus in the Westwood Village area of Los Angeles, about five miles from the Pacific Ocean. The home to over 26,000 undergraduate students, UCLA boasts 174 buildings on 419 acres.
Next year marks a return to Los Angeles for SuperCamp after a one-year absence, having been at Claremont Colleges for 18 consecutive years through 2008.
In addition to its teen programs, SuperCamp also operates a middle school summer camp program at several colleges across the U.S. and a program for college-bound and current college students. This latter program, Quantum U, is also located in Southern California, at Cal State San Marcos in north San Diego County.
Each year, SuperCamp draws students from all 50 states and from 30 or more countries worldwide. Some of the other SuperCamp locations for 2010 include the University of Washington in Seattle, Colorado College in Colorado Springs and Stanford University in Palo Alto.
