Founded by Two Visionary Moms, ‘No Nut Nation’ Offers Baked Goods So Tasty Even People Without Allergies Crave Them
What began as a venture to provide tasty treats for Sandra Haas’ then 2-year-old daughter with a peanut and tree nut allergy is now No Nut Nation-- a booming business offering delicious nut free baked goods that are so good, even people without allergies crave them. In a few short months of production, No Nut Nation has developed an impressive customer list and loyal following across sales channels such as supermarkets, schools, foodservice and an e-commerce focused website.
Launched officially in 2010 by attorney turned entrepreneur Haas and business partner, former automotive industry executive and entrepreneur Jennifer Eby, No Nut Nation products are now available in Whole Foods Market, known for its strict food standards, in New York Private Schools and have been featured at special events in some of the finest venues in NYC, including Cipriani 42nd Street, The Pierre and Waldorf Astoria. These mothers are steadily changing the perception of "allergy friendly food" and proving you that don't have to go nuts to find "the perfect brownie".
With a range of products, from The Perfect Brownie to All Natural Red Velvet Mini Cupcakes, Muffins and Crumb Cake, No Nut Nation is perfectly positioned to fill a growing need in the population: over the past decade, the number of people diagnosed with nut allergies has more than tripled, with estimates of about 6 million school-age children, or one out of every 13, suffering from serious food allergies, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Haas and Eby know firsthand just how important it is to have products consumers can trust. Last spring, Haas and Eby established a nut free bakery production facility in Waldwick, NJ. Working with experts in the Food Industry, including Rutgers Center for Advanced Food Technology and University of Nebraska’s Food Allergy Research & Resource Program (FARRP), the duo has achieved the highest standard of food quality and safety protocols: ingredient suppliers verify in writing that they are peanut and tree nut free, all workers and visitors are required to wash their hands before entering the production area, and each batch is sent to a lab to test for the absence of the peanut protein. "Once the decision was made to produce nut free items, we needed to do it responsibly for our customers, our friends and ourselves. We wanted to build a brand people could trust. We also wanted to use only the finest all-natural ingredients and have great tasting products that people with and without nut allergies would want to eat,” says Eby.
Prior to co-founding No Nut Nation, Haas and Eby enjoyed successful careers in their respective fields as attorney and marketing executive. It is in fact this winning combination and entrepreneurial spirit that has led to No Nut Nation’s burgeoning success. Their product offerings continue to expand to meet the needs of the many families, schools, and communities seeking delicious, convenient, nut free baked goods. And, most importantly, Haas’ daughter, now 13 years old, gives Not Nut Nation the official two-thumbs up seal of approval.
NO NUT NATION was founded by two forward-thinking moms who wanted to provide safe, nut free festive alternatives at local birthday parties. As the number of requests began to increase, their passion grew into a larger commitment to meet the need for high quality, appealing nut free options for the many families, schools, and communities seeking delicious, convenient, nut free baked goods and No Nut Nation was born. Sandra Haas and Jennifer Eby have since established a dedicated peanut and tree nut free baking facility with a strict allergen protocol that also includes batch testing through an outside lab for the absence of the peanut protein. Not Nut Nation products are now available in Whole Foods Market, in New York Private Schools and have been featured at special events in some of the finest venues in NYC, including Cipriani 42nd Street, The Pierre and Waldorf Astoria.
