American Idol Rumors Surrounding Michael Jackson Appearance Picking Up
With promises of a “big event” being hyped by the producers of the hit reality show ‘American Idol’ rumors have been swirling that Michael Jackson could be the main attraction.
The King of Pop has been speaking with ‘American Idol’ creator Simon Fuller about resurrecting his career and an ‘Idol’ moment could do just that. Jackson could be the focus of one of the competition weeks on the show. It has been said that Jackson would take part in helping the aspiring contestants in their performances and offer advice.
Over the past five seasons American Idol has enlisted several famous artists to assist the show’s performers. As part of the competition week the show highlights a popular musician and each contestant takes on a tune from their catalogue of hits. If ‘Idol’ is able to land Michael Jackson there would be no shortage of songs to choose from. Jackson has recorded 13 number-one singles and received 13 Grammy Awards.
Rumors about a Michael Jackson appearance began to pick up after American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe explained why contestants were mandated to remain silent about all aspects of the show. Lythgoe was speaking at a news conference when he revealed the reasoning behind the policy, saying the show didn’t want a contestant to "slip out with somebody telling their mom that Michael Jackson is coming." While that is no guarantee that Jackson is on his way but, it has been enough to get the media’s attention.
