Roman Polanski Moved from Swiss Prison for Medical Tests

Famed director Roman Polanski has been moved from a Swiss prison to undergo medical tests according to his lawyer, Herve Temine.

Polanksi, 76, was arrested in September after arriving in Switzerland to receive a lifetime achievement award at a film festival in Zurich. He had been the subject of an arrest warrant from U.S. authorities for more than three decades after he fled the country prior to his sentencing on a conviction for unlawful sex with a minor.

Details surrounding Polanski’s move from prison have not been released and it is not known when he will be returned. Temine has said he visited Polanski last week and the director appeared depressed and tired.

The United States has about a month left to make a formal extradition request to have Polanski returned to American soil for sentencing.
