Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson has been named as the injury replacement for New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd in this year’s NBA All-Star Game. Kidd, who is suffering from a lower back strain, will miss the next to games for the Nets and rest over the All-Star break.
Johnson has been a bright spot in an otherwise dim year for the Atlanta Hawks. The 6-7 guard is averaging 25.1 points per game and 4.3 assists. He will team up with the rest of the Eastern Conference All-Stars to take on the Western Conference in the Feb. 18 game in Las Vegas.
The NBA announced earlier today that Ray Allen and Mehmet Okur would replace injured All-Stars Steve Nash and Allen Iverson on the Western Conference squad.
