John Mayer has finally learned to not kiss and tell. The singer, who famously over shared about former girlfriends Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, remained tight lipped when it came to talking about his recent breakup with Katy Perry in an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"It was a very private relationship going in," he told DeGeneres. "It was a private relationship during and it's a private relationship still."
"I can understand asking the question based on some previous answers I have given,” he said, possibly referring to his comments about Simpson being like “sexual napalm” and “crack cocaine”, “but I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other. I've been much happier since then."
Mayer offered no hints on the cause of the split. "I'm on the same journey as everyone else," he said. "Coupling is a tricky thing.”
The singer’s interview will air later today. Mayer, 35, and Perry, 28, split last month after less than a year of on-and-off dating.
