College Basketball Men’s AP Top 25 Scores from Feb. 14

Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes survive scares while Wisconsin Badgers and Memphis Tigers roll.

The #1 Florida Gators (24-2) rallied from an 18 point deficit to beat the #25 Alabama Crimson Tide (18-7) 76-67 in an SEC showdown. Taurean Green scored 20 points for the Gators and Joakim Noah added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the win. Richard Hendrix led Alabama with 16 points and 8 rebounds.

The #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (23-3) nearly blew a huge lead but held on to beat the Penn State Nittany Lions (10-14) 66-64. Penn State was actually up 10-6 early in the game but the Buckeyes closed out the first half on a 34-9 run. That 21 point advantage was almost erased but Mike Walker missed a final three-point attempt at the buzzer. Greg Oden had 15 points and 10 rebounds in The Buckeyes win.

Alando Tucker scored 29 points and had 9 rebounds to lead the #3 Wisconsin Badgers (25-2) past the Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-17) 75-62 in a Big-10 showdown. Michael Flowers finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Kammron Taylor added 12 points. Wisconsin improved to 11-1 in the Big-10 while the loss dropped the Gophers to 3-9.

Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 20 points and Antonio Anderson finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds as the #8 Memphis Tigers (22-3) beat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (15-9) 69-52. Neither team shot well but Memphis was able to take care of the ball while Tulsa committed 18 turnovers. Memphis stayed perfect in the C-USA moving to 12-0 while Tulsa slipped to 5-6.

The #9 Kansas Jayhawks (22-4) shot 47 percent from the field and forced 17 turnovers to beat the Colorado Buffaloes (6-15) 75-46. Sasha Kaun had 10 points and 9 rebounds for Kansas while Russell Robinson added 14 points and 6 assists in the win. Colorado shot a miserable 27 percent from the floor. Kansas moved to 9-2 in the Big-12 while Colorado fell to 2-9.

The #10 Washington State Cougars (22-4) shot 51 percent from the field to beat their in-state rival Washington Huskies (16-9) 65-61. The Cougars hit 55 percent of their three-point attempts in the Pac-10 match-up. Taylor Rochestie led the Cougars with 16 points. Spencer Hawes scored 22 points for the Huskies and Jon Brockman had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Washington State moved to 11-3 in the Pac-10, Washington is now 6-8.

Nick Fazekas had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Marcelus Kemp added 10 points and 8 rebounds as the #11 Nevada Wolf Pack (23-2) beat the San Jose State Spartans (4-21) 68-60. The Wolf Pack shot 43 percent from beyond the three- point line. Tim Pierce had 20 points and 7 rebounds for San Jose State. Nevada moved to 11-1 in the WAC and the Spartans dropped to 3-10.

Sammy Mejia scored 18 points and Wilson Chandler finished with 14 points ands 11 rebounds as the DePaul Blue Demons (15-11) upset the #12 Marquette Golden Eagles (21-6) 72-67. Dominic James led the Golden Eagles with 17 points but Marquette managed to shoot just 52 percent from the free-throw line. The loss puts Marquette at 8-4 in the Big East while DePaul moved to 6-6.

The #17 Air Force Falcons (22-4) got 20 points from Nick Welch and Dan Nwaelele added 19 points and 7 rebounds in their 69-43 win over the Utah Utes (9-15). The Falcons hit 52 percent of their three-point attempts and forced 17 Utah turnovers in the game. Air Force moved to 9-3 in the MVC, Utah is now 4-7.

Josh McRoberts had 18 points and 11 rebounds and DeMarcus Nelson added 15 points and 6 rebounds as the Duke Blue Devils (19-7) beat the #21 Boston College Eagles (18-7) 78-70. Duke took control of the game in the first half and were up by 11 at the break. Sean Marshall led the Eagles with 23 points. Duke moved to 6-6 in the ACC while Boston College fell to 9-3.
