Halle Berry believed it was too late for her to have a second child, so discovering she was pregnant with her second child was a “big surprise.”
"This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth. Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful,” she told CNN’s Alina Cho in her first interview since announcing her pregnancy last Friday. “I feel fantastic.”
Berry refused to confirm rumors the baby is a boy. "I don't know, I don't know,” she told Cho. “But [the baby is] healthy!”
The baby will be Berry’s first child with fiancé Oliver Martinez. The 46-year-old is also mom to 5-year-old daughter Nahla with former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. Berry is due to give birth this fall.
Berry met Martinez, 47, on the set of Dark Tide in 2010. They confirmed their engagement in early 2012. Berry currently stars opposite Abigail Breslin in The Call. She can be seen next in X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
