Hundreds of people gathered Sunday to say their final goodbyes to Buckwild star Shain Gandee, who was found dead in his truck last Monday along with his uncle David Gandee and friend Robert Myers. The funeral was held at Charleston Municipal Auditorium in Charleston, West Virginia, and a private family burial at Thaxton Cemetry followed. Funeral costs were reportedly taken care of by Buckwild producers.
To honor Gandee, mourners wore camouflage and T-shirts featuring the 21-year-old’s nickname, “Gandee Candy.” "I know where Shain is. He said about a month ago, 'I know when I die I'm going to heaven,’” Gandee’s mother Lorette told mourners.
Authorities confirmed last week carbon monoxide poisoning was the cause of death for the MTV reality star, 48-year-old David, and 27-year-old Myers. It is believed the men decided to sleep in Gandee’s Bronco after it became stuck in the mud early Sunday morning. They apparently decided to leave the vehicle running for warmth not realizing toxic fumes leaked into the car because mud blocked the tailpipe.
Buckwild is an MTV show that follows 9 friends as they find ways to have fun in Sissonville and Charleston, West Virginia. The show debuted in January.
