Distribution will soon begin of Custer Survivor in order to meet the expected demand that will be on hand to greet the long awaited book by John Koster. Custer Survivor, a thoroughly researched book by the author, well known for his adherence to detail, will be in bookstores January 2.
Koster, and his archivist assistant Minjae Kim, scoured government and private files and archives in Washington DC, Kansas, Ohio, Oregon, Washington State, Missouri, Montana and even Berlin, Germany to establish that there was a survivor of the ring of death known as Custer’s Last Stand. It is accepted myth that every man of the five companies at the famous battle died. Koster took it to the next step by presenting forensic evidence as conclusive proof that a sergeant of Custer’s command did escape through inadvertent action.
John Koster, the distinguished author of works dealing with the American Indian, is known for his thorough knowledge of Native American history. His first book, The Road To Wounded Knee won the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Distinguished Public Service for coverage and analytical research into the American Indian Movement. He has also written for numerous publications including the British Marshall Cavendish syndicate, Wild West; Civil War Times illustrated, American History and American Heritage.
