Stabbing Rampage At Texas College Leaves 14 Wounded

A suspect is in custody following a stabbing rampage at a Texas community college Tuesday morning. The suspect’s name and age have not been released. Initial reports that a second attacker remained at large proved to be inaccurate. The attack happened around 11:20 a.m. at the CyFair campus of Lone Star College located in the Houston suburb of Cypress.

Authorities have confirmed at least 14 people were injured in the attack, but it remains unclear if all of them sustained stab wounds. Harris County sheriff's spokesman Alan Bernstein said it is possible that some injuries were caused as “people were running away” from the attacker. Bernstein also confirmed that four people "were in a dire enough situation” that they were airlifted to a hospital.

Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center confirmed it is treating six of the victims, including the four that were airlifted from the scene. Two of the victims are in critical condition. North Cypress Medical Center said it treating six victims who are all in stable condition.

The CyFair campus closed after the incident. Bernstein said it appears the attack was isolated to a few classrooms. The motive remains unknown. No other details were available.

In January, a gunman opened fire at Lone Star’s North Harris campus in Houston. Three people were wounded. The 22-year-old shooter was charged with aggravated assault.
