Speaking out for the first time on his sudden split from Katie Holmes last year, Tom Cruise admits he was as shocked as everyone else when Holmes filed for divorce on June 29.
“I didn't expect it," he tells German TV network ProSieben in a new interview.
After Holmes' filing, Cruise says he “had an unbelievable amount of time to think about” the split. "To be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have a grip on everything, and then it hits you -- this is it, what life can do to you," he reveals. “Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense of humor.”
Cruise and Holmes were married for 5 years and share a 6-year-old daughter, Suri. Cruise can be seen next in Oblivion and All Your Need Is Kill.
