Nate Berkus is ready to say ‘I Do.’ The interior designer proposed to his boyfriend of almost 9 months, Jeremiah Brent, Monday during a business trip in Peru. The proposal took place at the famed 15th century Inca site Machu Picchu.
No other details, including a wedding date, were immediately available. Berkus, 41, lost his longtime partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Bengoechea’s body was never recovered.
Oprah Winfrey played a major role in making Berkus a household name. He was a regular guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the early 2000s and hosted his own show, The Nate Berkus Show, from 2010 to 2012. Berkus currently has a home décor line at target. His latest book, The Things That Matter, was released last October.
