Suicide Bombers Kill at least 4 at International Islamic University in Islamabad

Two suicide bombers detonated explosives at the International Islamic University in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, killing at least four people and injuring more than 20 others.

According to the BBC a telephone call was made by a senior Taliban commander who claimed responsibility for the attack. It is believed the bombing is in response to the Pakistani army’s recent offensive in South Waziristan, an offensive designed to rid the area of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants.

The bombings on Tuesday targeted the Islamic law department as well as the women’s cafeteria and they were nearly simultaneous. Some students reported hearing gunfire moments before the explosions rocked the campus.
