Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James lead their teams to narrow wins on Thursday night.
Dirk Nowitzki had 26 points and 8 rebounds and Jason Terry hit two big free-throws to lift the Dallas Mavericks (44-9) past the Houston Rockets (33-19) 80-77. Josh Howard finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Jerry Stackhouse added 17 points of the bench for the Mavericks. Tracy McGrady finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds but struggled from the foul-line converting just 6 of his 11 attempts. As a team the Rockets were 20-31 from the line.
LeBron James finished with 38 points on 10-16 shooting as the Cleveland Cavaliers (31-22) went on the road and beat the Los Angeles Lakers (30-24) 114-108. Anderson Varejao ended the night with 15 points and 11 rebounds, including a key rebound off a missed James free-throw late in the game. LeBron went to the line 22 times in the game and converted on 18 of his attempts. As a team the Cavaliers attempted 55 free-throws. Kobe Bryant finished with 34 points in the loss.
