Kevin Hart knows drunk driving is no laughing matter. The comedian was arrested early Sunday morning in Los Angeles for suspicion of DUI, and later that day he took to Twitter to address the seriousness of the incident.
“Drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid s--t. This is a wake-up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn't. Everything happens for a reason,” he wrote.
Hart, 32, was taken into custody around 4:30 a.m. after officers spotted him driving erratically at more than 90 mph on the 101 freeway. Authorities say the actor nearly hit a tanker truck. He was pulled over and given a field sobriety test, which he failed. Hart was then taken to a nearby jail where he was booked on a misdemeanor DUI charge. He was released after posting $5,000 bond. An unidentified woman who was in Hart’s car at the time of his arrest was not detained.
Hart’s past comedy tours include Seriously Funny and Laugh at My Pain. A TV special titled Let Me Explain was released in early 2012. His acting credits include The Five-Year Engagement and Think Like a Man. Hart can be seen next in This Is The End and Ride Along.
