2 Dead, 22 Wounded In Boston Marathon Explosions

Two powerful explosions rocked Boston Marathon Monday afternoon, multiple media outlets have confirmed. Just seconds apart, the explosions occurred shortly before 3 p.m. An expert told CNN the explosions were “probably planned.”

Both blasts happened near the finish line. At least 2 people are dead and 22 others are wounded. Witnesses reported seeing blood splatter near Boylston Street. Police, Massachusetts National Guard troops, and paramedics are working at the scene.

“There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today’s Boston Marathon We are working with law enforcement to determine exactly what happened,” race organizers Tweeted.

No other details were immediately available. Some 27,000 people competed in the marathon, which began at 10 a.m. The winners finished earlier today.
