Performing Arts Abroad Launches Summer Music and Dance Training Program in Italy

Performing Arts Abroad offers unique and fulfilling study abroad, intern abroad, and volunteer abroad programs to individuals and groups, enhancing the understanding of theater, music, and dance. Participants of summer music and dance internship programs in Italy train with Florence's finest musicians and dancers.

Performing Arts Abroad, the leader in music, dance, and theater programs abroad, recently introduced internship training programs in Florence, Italy for summer 2013. These programs provide participants with focused instruction in the areas of dance and vocal performance. Workshops are conducted by leading Italian professionals including Keith Ferrone, the founder and director of Florence Dance Center, the Florence Dance Festival, and the Florence Dance Company.

Performing Arts Abroad (PAA) provides excellent internships where participants gain insight into the inner workings of music, dance, and theater companies and real-world experience in arts administration. Few other internship providers offer the same opportunity for interns to train and develop their artistic craft, which is an essential component for any serious performing artist. PAA’s new training programs in Italy offer the unique opportunity to develop music and dance skills with some of Italy’s most accomplished instructors and artists.

The dance training program focuses on choreography, the analysis of movement, and the creative process. Dancers examine the ancient and contemporary art and culture of Tuscany, which informs discussion and exercises focused on the relationship between space and the body. Dancers also compose and refine original pieces that are performed live at the end of the program. The dance training program runs from June 2nd to June 22nd and the application deadline is May 1st.

Performing Arts Abroad’s vocal training program offers singers professional guidance and the chance to work one-on-one with Italian virtuosos. The program is customized to each singer’s level and goals, but usually focuses on breathing techniques and vocal exercises to improve pitch, tone, and sound quality. Attention is also be given to the interpretation and styling of the singer’s desired repertoire, which can range from classical opera to modern art songs. The program runs from June 23rd to July 13th and the application deadline is May 15th.

PAA's Director - performing artist, educator, and cultural enthusiast, Reynolds Whalen - states, "We believe these training programs provide the ultimate learning experience for a performing artist, allowing participants to enhance their experience and education by learning from and performing alongside renown artists. I wish I would have had access to such a high caliber opportunity as this during my studies!"
