Two of the three people killed Monday in the bombings at Boston Marathon have been identified by family members as 29-year-old Krystle Campbell and 8-year-old Martin Richard. Krystle’s family says she attended the marathon to cheer on her boyfriend, who was competing. Martin was watching the race with his parents, Bill and Denise Richard; his older brother, who has not been identified; and his 7-year-old sister, Jane.
Krystle’s father, William A. Campbell Jr., remembered his daughter as a “wonderful, wonderful girl” who was “always willing to lend a hand." "My daughter was the most lovable girl. She helped everybody, and I'm just so shocked right now. We're just devastated," he told Yahoo! News.
Krystle’s boyfriend has not been identified. It is unclear if he was injured.
Bill Richard announced his son’s death in a statement, and also confirmed that Denise and Jane suffered serious injuries. According to reports, Denise sustained a brain injury and Jane lost a leg. "My dear son Martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on Boston. My wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries. We thank our family and friends, those we know and those we have never met, for their thoughts and prayers. I ask that you continue to pray for my family as we remember Martin. We also ask for your patience and for privacy as we work to simultaneously grieve and recover. Thank you,” Bill said Tuesday.
