Jessica Simpson is looking forward to having a son since she doesn’t have a brother. The Fashion Star mentor and mom of 11-month-old daughter Maxwell Drew tells People magazine the “unknown” element to raising a boy is exciting.
“I didn’t grow up with a brother and I think the unknown is really exciting,” she explains. “I can’t wait to have that connection with our little man.”
Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson celebrated the upcoming arrival of their baby boy with a Tom Sawyer themed baby shower in Los Angeles on Sunday. “He got all these cute vintage cars and I got a lot of little leather jackets I can’t wait to try out!” she says.
As for how Maxwell celebrated her brother, Simpson says, “She was taking over some of her little brother’s gifts!” says Simpson.
Planned by celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss and Simpson’s mom Tina, the 4 hour party featured vintage tables, vintage tin pitchers filled with flowers, and southern food like pigs in a blanket, mini-burgers, corn on the cob and fried chicken. Guests included Simpson’s sister Ashlee Simpson, her hairdresser and close friend Ken Paves, and actress Jessica Alba.
Simpson, 32, will give birth this summer.
