St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has undergone arthroscopic surgery to remove several bone chips from his right elbow.
The operation was performed by Dr. James Andrews who said that Pujols would not require ligament reconstruction and should be ready to play by next season. The two-time NL MVP has playing with a partially torn ligament since 2003.
Pujols led all of baseball with 47 home runs while collecting 135 RBIs and hitting .327 to lead the Cardinals to the NL Central title and a playoff berth.
