Despite shooting just 38 percent from the field and converting only 4 of their 15 three point attempts the #7 Pittsburgh Panthers (23-4) found a way to beat the Washington Huskies (16-10) 65-61.
Pittsburgh got little offensive help from their star center Aaron Gray who contributed just 5 points but the 7-footer did grab 10 boards in the game. Picking up the scoring slack for the Panthers was Mike Cook who dropped 15 points while Levance Fields added 14 to avoid the upset.
The Huskies dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Panthers 39-28 and they hit 7-11 from beyond the three-point line but they struggled to hold on to the ball. Washington committed 15 turnovers in the game compared to just 6 for the Panthers.
Spencer Hawes had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Huskies and Jon Brockman added 13 points and 9 boards in the loss. Since starting the season 10-1 the Huskies have dropped 9 of their last 15 games.
