The body of missing Florida
girl Somer Thompson was found in a south Georgia landfill, about 55 miles from
where she went missing in Orange Park. Florida Sheriff Rick Beseler says the
body was identified as Somer’s by clothing and a birthmark.
A Georgia state medical
examiner will positively determine whether the body is that of Somer, who
disappeared this week while walking home from school. An autopsy will also be
conducted.
Somer, 7, was walking home
from school with several children on Monday when she became separated from them
and disappeared.
Authorities are working to
determine where the garbage load that contained Somer’s body came from. A $30,000
reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the child’s
killer.
