The Boston Celtics finally have something to celebrate. Gerald Green took home the NBA Slam Dunk Contest trophy on Saturday night after leaping over a table and throwing down a windmill dunk. The acrobatic move was impressive enough for Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Julius Erving, Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter to throw up a perfect score of 50.
Green met up with last year’s champion Nate Robinson in the final dunk-off after Dwight Howard and Tyrus Thomas had been eliminated.
While Howard was eliminated he certainly left an impression on the contest. On one of his dunks he partnered with his Orlando Magic teammate Jameer Nelson. Nelson served him up with a high bounce pass and while Howard was going up for the dunk he slapped a sticker bearing an image of his face to the top of the backboard
For Robinson, things didn’t go as smooth as last year. The New York Knicks guard was able to make it to the finals but missed his final dunk nine times before he finally threw down a one-handed spinner.
