NBA All-Star Weekend: Jason Kapono Out-Shoots Dirk Nowitzki, Gilbert Arenas, to win Three-Point Shootout.
Miami Heat three-point specialist Jason Kapono outshined the bigger names on Saturday to win the NBA All-Star Weekend 3 Point Shootout.
Kapono was on fire in the final round as he scorched the net with 24 points tying a final round record established by Mark Price. The score was just one point shy of the events record for any round which was established by Craig Hodges.
Hitting the three has been something Kapono has had little difficulty in doing this year. He leads the NBA from that distance, converting 56 percent of his attempts.
During his final round, Kapono hit 11 straight and finished the round off dropping 6 of 8 to easily fend of last year’s champ Dirk Nowitzki and last year’s runner-up Gilbert Arenas. For Arenas, he managed to find second place once again after totaling 17 points.
