Popular Teen Summer Camps Coming To Chicago In 2010

A leading international academic summer camp program is returning to Chicago in 2010 with programs for middle school and high school students at Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest.

SuperCamp, a summer enrichment program that launched in 1982 and has graduated over 53,000 students from its 7- and 10-day residential programs, returns to Lake Forest Academy, a former SuperCamp site. Lake Forest Academy, established in 1857, is one of the leading college preparatory schools in the country. The campus is located on 150 wooded acres on the former Armour estate.

SuperCamp will hold its Senior Forum teen summer camp July 16-25 and its Junior Forum middle school summer camp July 7-13. Both programs provide students with the learning and life skills needed to improve grades, confidence, motivation, and social skills. Additionally, the teen program introduces the 8 Keys of Excellence, eight character-development principles, to the students over the course of the 10-day camp.

Bobbi DePorter, president of SuperCamp and Quantum Learning Network, said she is excited to be back in Chicago. "Chicago is such a midwest hub," said DePorter. "Having programs at Lake Forest Academy gives kids from Ohio to Iowa a SuperCamp that's within easy reach of where they live."

In addition to its Chicago location, SuperCamp has eight other locations in 2010, from the University of Washington in the northwest to Wake Forest University in the southeast. SuperCamp also runs a Quantum U program for college and
college-bound students. This 8-day program is held at Cal State San Marcos in San Diego in early August.

More information on all SuperCamp programs is available at the SuperCamp website and by calling 800-285-3276.
