Drug Rehab and Alcoholism Treatment Center Addresses the Complex Disease of addiction as well as the underlying causes of the addiction

Because drug and alcohol addiction can disrupt so many aspects of a person’s life, treatment is not simple. Mountainside’s comprehensive drug rehab and alcohol treatment program offers many components which are tailored to fit the individual and their situation. Addiction treatment must help the individual stop using drugs, maintain a sober and healthy lifestyle, and achieve a productive professional and family life. Because addiction is a chronic disease, simply stopping the use of drugs and/or alcohol for a short period of time will not alleviate the condition. Most clients require long-term treatment to achieve the goal of sustained abstinence and recovery in their lives.

Mountainside offers several traditional methods to help its clients recover from substance abuse and alcoholism. There are counseling sessions both in an individual and in a group setting.  An Individual’s treatment plan is put together based on the individual’s needs at the time they entered treatment. It is not unusual for a clients treatment plan to change several times throughout their stay at Mountainside in order to adapt to the pace and progress of their recovery.

There are many components that comprise each client’s treatment program including treatment components that offer healing to the family. The Family Wellness Program offered at Mountainside directed by Bruce Dechert, M.ED, LADC, ICADC, gives families the chance to take an active roll in their loved one’s recovery. The Mountainside Family Wellness Program focuses on understanding the disease of drug and alcohol abuse and how it impacts everyone in a family, constructive problem resolution and continuing care for the whole family.

Long Term Treatment is offered at Mountainside as an option for those clients who require extended stays in treatment; it’s specialized program to help the individual work on the fundamental constructive issues that ensure long-term sobriety. Many individuals have struggled to find success in remaining free from substance abuse and many of these benefit by a flexible drug rehab and alcoholism treatment approach that works over time.

Understanding the importance of both planning and successful drug addiction and alcohol treatment outcomes, the Mountainside treatment team puts special emphasis on aftercare planning. Each client works with his/her counselor and our Continuing Care Coordinator to develop the Aftercare Program and the appropriate referrals, when needed, are made to one of the many of national contacts that Mountainside has in its network.

Our Continuing Care Director, Bill Simmons, CASACT, works collaboratively with the each client’s counselor and develops an aftercare plan that works to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. The components of an individual’s plan may include weekly follow up “check ins”, 12-step meetings, out-patient treatment, a sober living situation, individual or family counseling, physician appointments, medication follow up and other options.

Mountainside also offers its clients a Mind Body Spirit Program that focuses on empowering each client with the confidence, knowledge and motivation required to make a personal commitment to be healthy. Though a series of interactive sessions led by Mountainside’s counseling staff, clients explore the Mind-Body-Spirit connection, learn stress reduction techniques and take a deeper look at their own vision of health and healing. This unique program complements the core Mountainside treatment program and provides valuable insights to participating individuals who can apply these strategies in their drug and alcohol recoveries. Mountainside also has a certified personal trainer on staff as well as a complete gym/exercise room.

One component of the Mind Body Spirit Program is the Yoga and Tai Chi program run by Will Boyce. Residents who participate in this program receive attention in developing a regimen that fits best with them, given their abilities. Will has a background in alcoholism and drug counseling is a certified hypnotherapist, a credentialed Kripalu Yoga Instructor and is also trained in Qigong, and Tai-Chi. This innovative and comprehensive program works collaboratively with the Counseling Department to ensure that complimentary approaches are being effectively used for each individual who participates.
