Victoria’s Secret is hitting back at their 2009 model search winner Kylie Bisutti for her “numerous fabrications” in a new article in the New York Post. In the article, Bisutti claims Victoria’s Secret executives encouraged her to “downplay” her marriage and flirt with other men. Bisutti says her “euphoria” after winning the competition “didn’t last long.”
“The day after I won, one of the Victoria’s Secret execs e-mailed to tell me that I’d caught the eye of one of the celebrities at the after-party,” she tells The Post.
Bisutti claims she was encouraged to “get together with him,” but refused and reminded the executive that she was married.
“During the Angel competition, I was encouraged to play down my marriage to Mike, because I was supposed to be flirting with everyone all the time,” she reveals.
Bisutti says she soon began to feel uncomfortable modeling skimpy lingerie and bathing suits. Her Christian faith eventually prompted her to quit modeling altogether. “Two years after I won the Angel Search, I realized I didn’t want to model anything that sold sex,” she explains.
She announced her decision on Twitter. “I quit being a VS model to be a Proverbs 31 wife,” she wrote.
“Quitting modeling has probably cost me millions of dollars. Victoria’s Secret Angels have the longest careers in the business. Even after they stop modeling lingerie, they can go on to host TV shows, like Heidi Klum, or design clothes, like Gisele,” she tells The Post. “But I’ve never been more content. These days, I’m living in Montana with my husband.”
Bisutti is now designing a Christian clothing line and releasing a book, “I’m No Angel: From Victoria’s Secret Model to Role Model,” on May 14.
Victoria’s Secret slams Bisutti in a statement released to People magazine. “Ms. Bisutti has made numerous fabrications and misstatements of fact regarding her brief association with Victoria’s Secret. In 2009, Ms. Bisutti won an online amateur modeling competition and hasn’t worked for us since that year. The prize for the winning contestant was the unique opportunity to a one-time walk in the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Ms. Bisutti also participated in a swim photo shoot in 2009. That was the extent of Ms. Bisutti’s involvement with Victoria’s Secret. She was never a Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel’ as defined by the terms of our Angel model contract. And contrary to Ms. Bisutti’s claims, she was never offered any subsequent modeling contracts or opportunities with Victoria’s Secret despite her multiple appeals for further work. She has repeatedly fabricated her work experience with Victoria’s Secret — including a relationship that simply did not exist,” the lingerie giant says.
