Less than a month after its official
launch the first ever travel price comparison site to incorporate the Halal
Stars rating system for Muslim visitors has reported a 200% increase in
participation.
The incredible level of uptake from hotels around the world demonstrates just how important the emerging Halal tourism sector is expected to become. Hundreds of hotels across twenty countries and four continents have adopted the Halal Stars rating system since it was offered as a search criteria by the meta travel search engine. The system rates room and hotel facilities provided specifically for Muslim travellers.
LagiSatu groundbreaking concept means travel services and facilities are rated and listed by religious amenities. Room considerations include the presence of a prayer mat, Quran and Qiblah direction while food is rated according to facilities such as the availability of Halal room service and Halal restaurant and whether or not Iftar and Sahoor can be arranged.
LagiSatu co-founder Faeez Fadhlillah said, “We have been delighted by the response of hotels around the world to our award-winning Halal Stars rating system. Demand has been incredible and shows just how important this thriving new sector is, despite its relevant infancy. We were confident that the response would be positive when we integrated HalalStars into our search results but have been overwhelmed with just how well received it has been by hotel managers and travellers alike. The number of hotels rated and ranked by this system in our network has increased by more than 200% in the few weeks since we made the concept public, giving some insight into the massive potential there is for future growth.”
Major OTAs and meta search currently dominate the markets of North America, Europe and China. There is a notable gap within the areas of Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East and North African (MENA) region. These regions are predominantly Muslim, a niche which Lagisatu.com aims to serve with its HalalStars system.
In addition to Muslim travel needs, LagiSatu serves an increasing number of business and leisure travellers from around the world. Visitors logging on will find the best hotel deals available online with just a single click. The site quickly compares prices on more than 250,000 hotels in over 180 countries around the world, with new hotels and destinations added daily. Partners include some of the biggest names in global travel: LateRooms.com, Agoda, eBookers, Expedia, Hotelclub and many more, assuring users of the best choice and the most competitive rates.
Its HalalStars system helped LagiSatu to the title of Start-Up of the Year at the recent WebInTravel awards in Indonesia.
