SEC College Football Schedule Saturday Oct. 24: Alabama Faces Tennessee while Florida Travels to Mississippi State in Key Matchups

The SEC has a full slate of games on Saturday and for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators the hopes of a national championship remain the main motivator as the each line up against conference opponents. While the Gators are in a favorable position in the SEC East the Crimson Tide holds just a one-game lead over LSU in the SEC West and they’ll face the Tigers on Nov. 7 in what will likely decide who plays for the SEC championship.

Two teams working through difficult seasons will get the action started on Saturday as the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-3, 1-3) travel to face the Mississippi Rebels (4-2, 1-2). Arkansas had a golden opportunity to knock off the Florida Gators last week but let that slip through their hands while Mississippi is coming off a dismantling of UAB but already have losses to South Carolina and Alabama in conference play. Kickoff is set for 12:21 p.m. ET.

The Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0) jumped to #1 in the AP Top 25 this week but sit at #2 in the BCS Rankings. That doesn’t worry the Tide one bit though as they know if they just take care of what’s in front of them they’ll find themselves in the national championship game. They’ll face a challenge on Saturday when they host the Tennessee Volunteers (3-3, 1-2). Tennessee is coming off a bye following a blowout win over Georgia. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.

It has been a nerve-racking season for the South Carolina Gamecocks (5-2, 2-2) who could easily be sitting with just one loss in the conference or just as easily be sitting with four losses. They played tough in last week’s loss to Alabama and will look to climb above .500 in conference play when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-5, 0-4) who are coming off an ugly loss to Georgia. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.

The Kentucky Wildcats (3-3, 1-3) will be hosting Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday in an out-of conference game but this is far from a sure thing as the Warhawks have put up some points this year. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.

After dealing with some questions concerning their mental makeup the Florida Gators (6-0, 4-0) would like nothing more than to come out on Saturday night and shut down the Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-4, 1-2). The Gators narrowly escaped last week against Arkansas and they sure don’t want Miss. St. to be in any position for an upset on Saturday. Florida will be missing several defensive starters but their offense should have little trouble picking up the slack. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

In what could be the marquee match-up of the week in SEC play the LSU Tigers (5-1, 3-1) will host the Auburn War Eagles (5-2, 2-2). LSU still has a shot at capturing the SEC West and earning a berth into the SEC championship game and that should be plenty of motivation for the Tigers. Auburn started the season hot but have dropped their last two games in ugly fashion, falling to Arkansas and Kentucky. The War Eagles will certainly be looking to make amends on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
