The body of missing 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten was found Friday
in woods off of Route D in St. Martins, Missouri. Cole County Sheriff Greg
White said a juvenile is in custody and is a “person of interest” in Olten’s
death.
Police have not released details on the person of
interest, except to say the individual lived in the area, was acquainted with
Elizabeth and was older than her.
Elizabeth was last seen around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday leaving
a friend’s house. No other details were available.
Elizabeth’s disappearance and death came just after a
7-year-old Florida girl was abducted and murdered while walking home from
school in Orange Park, Florida. Somer Thompson went missing Monday and was
found dead Thursday at a Georgia landfill. Read more on Somer’s
disappearance
