The political troubles that have fractured Zimbabwe will likely worsen after police raided a house belonging to the MDC party.
Police, under the orders of President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party, ransacked the home looking for weapons and reportedly took “valuable party material.”
Mugabe was forced into a power-sharing government with bitter rival Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDC and the two have butted heads on a number of issues. While Mugabe retained the office of the presidency Tsvangirai was named prime minister yet the two sides have rarely seen eye to eye.
Just last week Tsvangirai suspended his MDC’s participation in the unity government after alleging Mugabe wasn’t adhering to the power-sharing agreement.
