College Basketball AP Top 25 Scores #6 Kansas Jayhawks Rally for Win Over Kansas State
The #6 Kansas Jayhawks (24-4) used a 16-4 second half run to beat the Kansas State Wildcats (19-9) 71-62. Sherron Collins scored 20 points for the Jayhawks and Mario Chalmers added 17 in the win. Darrell Arthur led the Jayhawks on the glass with 12 rebounds to go with his 13 points.
Kansas State held a four point lead late in the first half and actually went into the locker room with a 30-29 advantage. The game went back and forth in the second half and the score was tied 43-43 with 11 minutes remaining and then Kansas went on their run to seal the game.
While Kansas shot 51 percent from the floor they struggled at the line, converting just 16-27 free-throw attempts. The Jayhawks were equally as bad shooting the long ball, hitting 5-21 three-point attempts.
The Wildcats shot 32 percent from the floor in the game but were able to keep the game close by forcing 16 Kansas turnovers. Cartier martin led Kansas State with 19 points in the loss.
The win pushed the Jayhawks record to 11-2 in the Big 12, ½ a game ahead of Texas A&M while the Wildcats dropped to 8-5 in conference play.
