BCS Rankings College Football Week 2: Florida Gators Remain at #1, Alabama Crimson Tide Hold at #2 while Boise State and Cincinnati Tumble

The latest BCS rankings were unveiled Sunday evening and while only Miami fell from last week’s top ten there was a major shuffle in the standings despite the top three teams holding their spots.

Florida survived a scare from the Mississippi State Bulldogs to remain at #1 in this week’s BCS Rankings while the Alabama Crimson Tide avoided a major upset from the Tennessee Volunteers to hold at #2. While Florida and Alabama struggled the Texas Longhorns crushed the Missouri Tigers to cement their #3 ranking but from there things began to get shaky.

The Iowa Hawkeyes jumped two spots to land at #4 this week after a last second win over the Michigan State Spartans. Iowa now sits in a solid position and if they win out they could find themselves playing for a national championship.

One week after debuting at #7 the USC Trojans shot up to #5 powered by a victory over a mediocre Oregon State squad on Saturday. The Trojans are the highest ranked one-loss team and are in a better spot than three teams that remain undefeated.

TCU kept their record unblemished with a convincing win over BYU on Saturday and were rewarded with a two-spot jump to #6 in the BCS rankings while the Boise State Broncos were left scratching their heads after debuting at #4 and then being dropped to #7 despite a 54-9 win over Hawaii.

The Cincinnati Bearcats could sympathize with Boise State as they dropped from #5 down to #8 this week despite a dismantling of Louisville.

Entering the top ten this week are the Oregon Ducks, sitting at #10 following a win over Washington. The Ducks are one spot below the LSU Tigers who picked up a big win over Auburn on Saturday.
