Bollywood Honors Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan at Stardust Awards

Bollywood power couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan each took home trophies at this year's Stardust Awards.

Aishwarya Rai, a former Miss World winner, was honored with the Female Star of the Year for her role in “Dhoom II,” a movie that co-stared her fiancée Abhishek Bachchan. The 33-year-old Rai plays the role of Sunehri and partners with an international thief while eluding the cops.

Abhishek Bachchan won the Best Actor in Supporting Role for the film “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.” The film is a story of two people who fall in love but are already married. Bachchan plays the role of Rishi, whose wife falls in love with another man, played by Shahrukh Khan.

Pride of the Industry, which is awarded for the most outstanding film, went to “Rang De Basanti” The film also produced the winner of Male Best Breakthrough Performance which went to Kunal Kapoor.

Sanjay Dutt took home the Male Star of the Year for his performance in Lage Raho Munnabhai. The film also produced an award for Rajkumar Hirani, who took home the Dream Director of the Year award.

The Stardust Awards were started in 2003 as a means of recognizing the up-and-coming stars of the Bollywood film industry.
