DALLAS, October 26, 2009 – Ben Trowbridge, the Chief Executive Officer of Alsbridge, Inc., attended the 36th Annual Sourcing Interest Group Leadership Summit held on Oct. 20-22 in San Diego, Calif. Trowbridge and his guest Lt. Col. James Szepesy from the United States Marine Corps were speakers at the Leadership Session Dinner on Thursday night.
Trowbridge is known as a thought leader in outsourcing and offers more than 20 years of diversified global expertise in hundreds of outsourcing, shared services and offshore transactions. He is a former Marine Captain and had the privilege to serve as a Company Commander on four occasions and also championed the formation of formal dedicated career training programs for NCO Infantry leaders.
Szepesy is currently an Air Officer and a Fires and Effects Officer with the Marine Corps' Tactics and Operations Group. He has served at every level in the Marine Corps up to the Marine Expeditionary Force level.
The two gave an overview of the Marine Corps today and helped deliver a fantastic leadership presentation, contrasting corporate and Marine Corps leadership concerns.
“Corporate leaders should think about lessons that can be learned from a truly high performance organization where failure is not an option,” said Trowbridge. “In today's troubling business climate, there are many lessons that can be learned from the Marines.”
The conference gives attendees the opportunity to hear about current best practices, cost-cutting strategies, case studies, and risk-mitigation approaches as well as the chance to network with individuals in similar job roles or situations and collaborate on various sourcing issues. Corporate attendees came from several different industries including healthcare, energy and consumer goods. Attendees also saw presentations by other corporations such as Kraft Foods, Microsoft, and ACE Insurance.
“The conference was very beneficial,” remarked Trowbridge, “SIG does a great job with this particular event and the networking opportunities are always there. Speaking at the event also gives me a better opportunity to connect with a larger audience, and I really enjoy doing it.”
