The Iowa Hawkeyes scored a last second victory over the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday but they lost one of their top offensive linemen for the season as right guard Dace Richardson suffered a broken bone in his left leg.
Richardson broke the bone early in the game and head coach Kirk Ferentz has already said the injury would keep him sidelined for the rest of the season but there may be hope that he could be ready for a bowl game.
The undefeated Hawkeyes are currently ranked fifth in the BCS and are in a good position to challenge for a spot in the BCS national championship game if they win out. Richardson had been a major piece of an offensive line that dominated opponents and his injury could be problematic when Iowa faces Ohio State, a team that boasts one of the best defenses in the country.
