Celebrity Drug and Alcohol Abuse

After attempting to beat an alcohol addiction in 2008 with the help of Dr. Drew and the addiction reality show Celebrity Rehab, Sean Stewart, son of rocker Rod Stewart, may have relapsed. On Sept. 16, 2009, Sean crashed his pricey Bentley convertible in Beverly Hills. Some friends suggest Stewart has relapsed, but celeb site TMZ reported that he claimed the crash was “the car’s fault,” blaming it on a mechanical malfunction. Whatever the cause of the accident, the 29 year old walked away from the accident unscathed.

Old Addicts at it Again

Young Hollywood isn’t the only group that is vulnerable. Burt Reynolds was discharged from a drug rehabilitation center the same week, following treatment for a reported addiction to painkillers.

The 73-year-old actor spent a month in treatment after taking a fall at his waterfront mansion that led to a dependence on prescription pain medication. This isn’t Reynolds’ first run-in with addiction. News sources report that the Smokey & the Bandit star admitted to a reliance on sleeping aids in the ‘80s to ease pain from a TMJ disorder that affected his jaw.
