The firm plans on trying to bridge the gap between defendants who cannot qualify for a public defender, but who cannot afford the high legal fees associated with hiring a lawyer. He plans on utilizing a sliding scale fee where clients who make less will pay less.

To keep costs low and to provide lower fees to clients, he has tried to harness all the new business tools on the web. For example, instead of buying a new phone line he uses Google voice and connects it to his personal phone for free. Also, he splits his time working from home and working in a “virtual office” and thus forgoes the cost of paying for a full-blown office. He hopes that these and other innovative web based tools will help him keep costs low and bridge the public defender system and the private defense bar.
Idaho Legal Defense hopes to opens in doors to clients in late May.
