Tips for a Pet Friendly Bed and Breakfast Getaway

If you can't imagine fully enjoying your next vacation without your four-footed friend, then you'll simply have to bring him along. The staff at iLoveInns wants to help make this a trouble free getaway for all involved and offers the following recommendations.

Selecting a Great Pet Friendly Bed and Breakfast

Go to iLoveInns.com and choose a city or state and then click the “Pet” box. You will be given a wide variety of pet friendly Bed & Breakfast and Country Inns among the thousands of featured properties. Many experienced Bed and Breakfasts travelers don’t want to miss out on their favorite way of travel when they bring their pets. It takes a little longer to choose just the right inn for your pet, but it is an investment that will reward you and your pet with a great travel experience.

Contacting the Selected Bed and Breakfast Property

When making your reservation, inform the Bed and Breakfast Inn that you would like to bring your pet along. Inquire about restrictions such as type of pet (cat and/or dog) and the maximize size allowed. Ask ahead of time if any extra nightly fees or non-refundable deposits are required. Inquire if your pet can be left unattended in the B&B room and, if so, if they need to be crated.

InnSider Tips

Be sure to bring along your pet’s favorite blanket or a few extra sheets to cover any off-limits furniture, a floor mat for food and water in your room and of course, your pet’s favorite food.

Additional tips include;
1. Once you arrive, make sure to introduce yourself and your pet to the innkeeper and the staff and inquire about any areas of the Bed & Breakfast that are off limits to your pet.
2. Avoid leaving your pet alone in the room for any great length of time but if needed, notify your innkeeper and consider keeping a radio or television on low volume to distract your pet.
3. See what special treatment is available: innkeepers at many properties may even offer to walk your dog or otherwise offer a bit of extra attention.
4. Ask what restaurants, parks, special attractions, hikes and activities might be most enjoyable for you and your dog or cat.
