Gilbert Arenas scored 38 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and DeShawn Stevenson add 23 points as the Washington Wizards (30-21) beat the Minnesota Timberwolves (25-28) 112-100. The Wizards shot 50 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Wolves 41-36 on the night. Kevin Garnett led Minnesota with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
The Charlotte Bobcats (20-33) rallied in the fourth quarter to knock of the NO/Oklahoma City Hornets (25-29) 104-100. Gerald Wallace scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while Emeka Okafor had 16 points and 15 boards in the win. Raymond Felton added 21 points and 11 assists in the win. Tyson Chandler had 16 points and 20 rebounds in the Hornets loss.
Coming off an NBA Rookie Challenge MVP performance, David Lee scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the New York Knicks (24-30) beat the Orlando Magic (27-27) 100-94. Eddy Curry and Jamal Crawford each had 20 points for the Knicks and Stephon Marbury added 14 in the win. Dwight Howard led the Magic with 27 points and 14 rebounds.
Chauncey Billups scored 19 points and handed out 6 assists while Rasheed Wallace added 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons (33-19) sneaked past the Milwaukee Bucks (19-35) 84-83. The Pistons held a 48-38 advantage on the glass and blocked seven shots in the game. Charlie Bell led the Bucks with 22 points.
The San Antonio Spurs (36-18) used a balanced attack and capitalized off of 20 turnovers to beat the Denver Nuggets (26-26) 95-80. Tony Parker had 17 points and 5 assists while Tim Duncan added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the win. No player on the Spurs squad played more than 25 minutes in the game. Carmelo Anthony finished with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the Nuggets.
Chris Duhon scored 17 points and had 7 assists while Ben Wallace grabbed 14 rebounds as the Chicago Bulls (30-25) used a smothering second half defense to beat the Atlanta Hawks (21-32) 106-81. Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich each scored 16 points for the Bulls who didn’t allow the Hawks a single field goal in the third quarter.
Brandon Roy scored 27 points and had 7 assists while Zach Randolph scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers (23-32) beat the Utah Jazz (35-18) 103-100. The Trail Blazers shot 41 percent from beyond the three-point arc compared to 22 percent for the Jazz. Mehmet Okur led the Jazz with 25 points and 8 rebounds.
The Sacramento Kings (23-29) held off a fourth quarter rally to beat the Boston Celtics (13-39) 104-101. All five starters for the Kings scored in double figures led by Kevin Martin who had 22 points. Ron Artest finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds while Brad Miller had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Paul Pierce had 26 points for the Celtics. Boston lost the game at the line, shooting just 17-31 from the charity stripe.
The Seattle Supersonics (21-32) had big games from their big players to cruise past the Memphis Grizzlies (14-41) 121-105. Rashard Lewis finished with 34 points and 7 rebounds while Chris Wilcox had 13 points and 15 rebounds and Nick Collison ended the night with 10 points and 14 boards. Luke Ridnour had 15 points and 12 assists for Seattle. Mike Miller led the Grizzlies with 20 points.
Steve Nash returned with 13 points and 12 assists and Shawn Marion dropped 31 points and grabbed 9 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns (40-13) crushed the Los Angeles Clippers (25-29) 115-90. Amare Stoudemire finished with 22 points and 9 boards as the Suns out-rebounded the Clippers 50-38. Corey Maggette led the Clippers with 19 points and 7 rebounds.
