The #19 Texas Longhorns (20-7) jumped all over the Texas Tech Red Raiders (17-11) in the first half and cruised to a 80-51 victory.
Using a 16-2 run early in the first half the Longhorns built a 16-point cushion and went to the locker room with a 48-26 lead. Texas then opened the second half on an 8-2 run and the game was never in question.
The Longhorns had big games from their starting five as Damion Jones scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Kevin Durant finished with 17 points and 8 boards, A.J. Abrams had 18, D.J. Augustin scored 16 points and dished out 6 assists and Justin Mason finished with 13 points.
Texas Tech struggled from the field all night and finished shooting at a 28 percent clip. They were just 3-15 from beyond the three-point line and turned the ball over 16 times in the loss.
Texas moved to 10-3 in the Big 12, one game behind the conference leading Kansas Jayhawks. Texas Tech fell to 6-7 in conference play and suffered serious damage to their NCAA Tournament hopes.
