John Mauldin’s latest post,” Best of Times”, examines three areas: deflation, banking statistics that are not optimistic, and why now may be the best time to be young.
Maludin addresses the issue of increasing unemployment: only a few years ago, less than 1 in 16 Americans were unemployed or underemployed. Besides unemployment, Mauldin dissects other significant elements of deflation such as the troubling matter of reduced borrowing and lending, $2 trillion in bank losses and a frighteningly weak housing market.
Finally, Mauldin goes on to acknowledge the differences and the comparisons between the children of today and the lives of children 50 years ago. Despite the fact that the young people in America today have to look forward to supporting 70 million retired baby boomers, every generation takes what it is given, and makes the best of it.
