Peyton Manning has restructured his contract with the Indianapolis Colts in order to free up close to $8 million in their $109 million salary cap. Manning’s MVP performance in the Colts Super Bowl victory over the Chicago Bears seemed enough to convince the quarterback that restructuring his contract could help the team repeat.
In 2004 Manning inked a $98 million contract with the Colts.
Manning was under contract to receive a $10 million bonus after the 2006 season ended but he has agreed to have that converted into a signing bonus which the Colts can prorate over the remaining four years of his contract.
With Tony Dungy returning and all the offensive weapons expected back the Colts stand to be the team to beat in the AFC.
