Carpenter
Technology Corporation (NYSE:CRS) climbed 10% to
$23.50 on 837K shares after a specialty alloy producer, posted a
narrower-than-expected first-quarter loss helped by lower costs, The company
said its revenue level has bottomed in the quarter and will improve sequentially
over the rest of the year. However, it still expects revenue for its fiscal
year 2010 to be lower than fiscal 2009. Carpenter had revenue of $1.36 billion
in fiscal 2009. For fiscal 2010, analysts on average were expecting Carpenter
to report revenue of $1.13 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
InterOil
Corporation (
Amedisys,
Inc. (NASDAQ:AMED) fell 6% to $40.44
after a provider of home health-care and hospice services, posted a quarterly
profit that edged past analysts' estimates, helped by higher net service revenue
from start-up agencies, and it reaffirmed its forecast for the year. For the
third quarter ended Sept 30, the company reported net income of $35.9 million,
or $1.29 a share, compared with $23.5 million, or 87 cents a share, a year ago.
Net service revenue rose 21 percent to $388.3 million. Analysts on average
expected earnings of $1.27 a share, excluding special items, on revenue of
$384.4 million,
according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
