British Couple Kidnapped by Somali Pirates while Sailing Near the Seychelles

A British couple sailing around the world have reportedly been kidnapped by Somali pirates as they passed near the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean.

Paul and Rachel Chandler sent a distress signal from the 38-foot yacht on Friday and have not been heard from since, leading officials to believe they were targeted by pirates. On Tuesday their yacht was said to have been spotted towing a pirate’s skiff but that has not been confirmed by officials.

According to reports the couple was heading towards Tanzania but as they neared the Seychelles their yacht was boarded by the pirates.

A pirate has said the British couple was kidnapped, they are in good health and a ransom demand would be made soon.
